I just saw today that Broken Social Scene has done a cover of one of my favorite Joy Division song’s, Love Will Tear Us Apart. The track will be available on the soundtrack for The Time Traveler’s Wife, which I actually want to see even though it looks like a complete chick flick…
All in all the cover is pretty good. I definitely prefer the original, but the BSS version of it is a nice change of pace. It has the signature BSS sound, but is missing the energy (and Ian Curtis) of the original which really takes away from what I love about that song.
I found a page that has the track available for download…not sure how long it will be on there so if you want a copy, get it soon….
I found out yesterday that one of my all time favorite directors (also producer and writer), John Hughes, died of a heart attack. He’s not someone I have ever really thought much about, yet it is a little upsetting…
His movies are classics…even if you don’t know the name, you know his movies. Growing up in the 80′s and 90′s it was hard not to enjoy one of his films. Even to this day I still have a hard time turning the channel if one of them is on TV…the other day Weird Science was on (and it clearly wasn’t one of his best) and I sat and watched the entire thing…
In honor of his career, I count down my top 10 John Hughes movies.
